Scientific Discussion: Institutionalization of Science and the Status of Scientists in Iran

Advanced societies constantly are in search nor systematic and institutional foundation for global contribution in science and technology. Upon careful study of developed countries, it is highly perceived that, there is a logical relations between assembling scientists in one geographical place and institutionalization of science in the same place. In fact, establishment of a scientific foundation is a criteria for evaluation of countries development and scientists are the main pillar of such foundations. Therefore, it should be a bilateral relations between the different bodies of societies and scientific organizations so that each of them plays their own role in contact with each other. The main task of the society and its elements is to provide a proper social ground for promotion of science and scientists. Science should be considered as a foremost value in societies and scientists should be efficiently respected in broad sense. In order to colonize the scientists in country and prevention of brain drain, it is essential to adopt a flexible rules and laws while confronting with the scientists requests. Instead of this important desired roles played by society, the scientific foundations and scientists, researchers and research administrators should act in a way deserving their titles and academic levels; in the other hand, the curriculum vitae and the previous scientific records and also future professional activities of scientists should indicate their scientific status in national and international levels. The main task of scientists is to involve in global science and technology contribution and lead the society toward sustainable development. To draw a general perspective and focus on the importance of this issue Rahyaft quarterly decided to organize a scientific discussion entitled institutionalization of science and the status of scientists in Iran. In this panel discussion, distinguished scholars and experts have been invited to present their view points concerning the above-cited topic.
