Productivity and Quality Criteria in Iran and the World

This paper describes the concepts of quality and elaborates on evolution of quality and productivity management. Then, standard conventional models for assessment of quality management are introduced. AIso, major issues and important features of Iranian industries with respect to quality and productivity are discussed and analyzed. Moreover, the most notable international studies with respect to quality and productivity factors and criteria are discussed. According to one of these studies, industrial units are categorized as newcomers, developing and advanced manufacturing systems. Furthermore, they are assessed from the perspective of quality and productivity factors. Based on the results of the preceding study and our research results in Iranian industries, a set of practical recommendations for quality and productivity improvement are presented. Also, an integrated quality control model which can be an ideal infrastructure for deployment of total quality control or total quality management is introduced.
