چكيده لاتين :
The International Council for Science (ICSU), founded in 1931, is a non-governmental organization representing a global membership including National Scientific Bodies and International Scientific Unions. ICSU plans and coordinates interdisciplinary research and joint initiatives to strengthen potentials of science to address social needs. To this end, the council actively identifies and addresses the major issues related to science and society and brings disciplines together, advocates for freedom and universality in the conduct of science and equitable access to scientific data and information, facilitates capacity building in research and education, acts as focus for the exchange of ideas and international research collaboration, fosters the dialogue between the international planning, national funding and policy-making to achieve sustainable development, establishes Regional Offices and finally provides Iinks to National Members. ICSU also awards 10-15 grants annually to support collaborative projects. As a national member, Iran in general and university of Tehran in particular attempts to play the major role in realizing and achieving ICSUʹs missions and objectives.
