PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENTIFIC ASSOCIATIONS

This article reviews the philosophy of scientific associations. These institutions have been playing an increasing role in support of scholarship and professionals. A scientific institution is effectively governed, when it has an appropriate independence. In addition, the most valuable thoughts of scholars come to reality, when they enjoy academic freedom and participate in institutional affairs. When partisan politic and bureaucracy entered into the higher education, it limited institutional autonomy, violated academic freedom, and restraint collegial decision-making. This matter derived some of professional activities into scientific associations. Although these institutions vary greatly in forms, purpose, size, functions, and constituencies, their mission is summarized in training, research and consulting.
