Fluid flow and heat transfer within the stator of a microgenerator is numerically investigated by solving the continuity, momentum, energy and turbulent flow conservation equations using the periodic boundary condition. Results have been reported for the angular velocity of 47000 rpm and three axial velocities of 5, 15, and 18 m/s. Both compressible and incompressible conditions were considered and it was observed that considering the compressibility of the fluid does not have a significant effect on the results. A simple analytical model is proposed to predict the conductive heat transfer within the stator of the generator. The model is observed to predict the numerical results with acceptable accuracy.
