The Measurement of the Tangible Impact of Military Costs on Iranʹs Economic Growth (1959-2005)

In a general classification, the results from the studies on the impacts of military costs on Iranʹs economic growth can be classified as follows: A] The studies that have found some positive interests, confirming the military Keynesian viewpoint B] The studies that have found a negative impact. In this article which has been adopted from a research on this subject, we have sought to test the hypothesis that states that "defense costs leave a negative impact on Iranʹs economic growth". The model used in this research is based on neoclassical growth models, and a result of the change in the national production function. The coefficients estimated by using the time series of 1959-2005 to the fixed prices of 1997 using the least squares method indicate that not only will the increase in defense costs leave no impact on economic growth in the country, but also one percent of these costs, will add 0/05 percent to the real Gross Domestic Product
