Americaʹs New Policy in the Middle East

Americaʹs failed efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq on the one hand, and the increased Islamic awareness with Iran as the pivot center on the other, made the Bush administration and its regional allies interested in planning the New Middle East Plan as well as encountering Iran as a powerful regional arm, but after Israel failed in Lebanonʹs proxy war and the New Middle East Plan failed, America changed its policy in the region, drawing on the policy of low-intensity war and containment, boosting Sunni capabilities against the Shiites, trying to create a new power pole consisting of Israel and the countries in the region that followed America, and embarking on efforts to routinize Arab-Israel relations. In fact, international and regional requirements prompted Bush administration to bring about a change in Americaʹs foreign policy, especially in Middle East region. Furthermore, Obama is pursuing those changes with a more moderate pace than previous statesmen.
