بررسي اثر Ceftiofur بر تغييرات هورمونهاي استروژن و پروژسترون در دوره پس از زايمان در گاوهاي شيري

Investigation on ceftiofur effects on estrogen and progesterone hormone changes in postpartum on dairy cattle

Postpartum uterine infections have been associated with reduced fertility in dairy cows. In this study, for each animal, a trans cervical double guarded swab was collected from the uterine body on 7th or 8lh day after parturition, and divided in two groups on the basis of colony count (more than 10 colonies per swab). Ceftiofur was injected for three continuous days after 10lh day of postpartum in the first group (19 cows), and no treatment in the second group (16 cows).Blood was collected on days 7,14,21,28 of postpartum. The results show that estrogen concentration in Ceftiofur group in 14lh day has been reached to its maximum level in the first month of postpartum. In addition, in the 14th day progesterone concentration in group Ceftiofur is significantly more than control group. In both groups progesterone concentration reached to its maximum amount on 28th day, however, in Ceftiofur group it is more than control group, but no significant. In general it can be seen that after using Ceftiofur, estrogen concentration especially in pluriparous cows significantly is more than control group which indicates that the medicine has affected on this group. Besides, progesterone concentration in Ceftiofur group especially in pluriparous cows significantly is more. Therefore it can be concluded that Ceftiofur can affect on estrogen and progesterone secretion by decline in number of uterine bacteria.
