Determine of phylogenetic relation in Fusarium graminearum sensu lato with MAT gene

Fusarium is a large ubiquitous genus of fungi containing some of the most important plant pathogens. Fusarium species cause a wide range of diseases in many crop plant species while some species can infect humans and animals, too, and also they may produce mycotoxins. Fusarium head blight (FHB) is one of the most economically important diseases of wheat, barley, rice and other small grain cereals worldwide. Infections of cereals by FHB pathogens reduce grain yield and quality, and also FHB-infected grains are often contaminated with trichothecene mycotoxins and strogenetic compounds. The primary casual agent of FHB is Fusarium graminearum sensu lato which is a complex species, and consists of at least 11 phylogenetically distinct species. In the present study, we collected 13 representative isolates from various geographical areas of Iran. In order to characterize phylogenetic relation between isolates, sequence of MAT gene was amplified using specific primers. To study the phylogenetic relationship in fg clade, it was sequenced the amplified gene using two primers pair and the resulting data was analyzed using the Maximum Parsimony method. Phylogenetic analysis of studied samples showed that Fusarium isolates are monophyletic with support and genealogical concordance, and all isolates used in this study, belongs to F. graminearum sensu stricto.
