Ideology in Contemporary Persian Novels (Pahlavi Era)

In Iran, the matter of ideology began with the Constitutional Revolution and gained credit in academic and intellectual institutions. From 1942 onward, ideology formed the basis of political and cultural movements, entered the political vocabulary of Iranians and consequently became prominent in literary works including poetry and novels. The ideological movements that had gained prominence since the 18th century were realized in "ism"s such as Marxism, socialism, nationalism, Fascism, etc. These died out in Europe in the aftermath of World War Two and gained a following in third world countries such as Iran, entering the domains of culture, politics, and thought. In Iran, ideology began to spread during the reign of Reza Pahlavi and reached its apex in the reign of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. The rise of ideological movements in Pahlavi era Iran was reflected in various cultural institutions including literature. This research aims to analyze the phenomenon of ideology by studying the novels of prominent authors of that era.
