Evaluation of hematological profiles in goats infected with Anaplasma ovis in north¬east of Iran

The goal of this study was to determine of hematological parameters in goats infected with Anaplasma ovis. In this study 84 blood samples were collected from adult and young goats in north-east (Mashhad) of Iran. Out of 84 blood samples, 47 samples were positive (infected group) and 37 samples were negative (uninfected group) for A. ovis using polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Hematological analysis carried out on 47 positive samples (infected group) and 37 negative samples (uninfected group). Hematological analysis between infected and uninfected group indicated significant decreases (PO.Ol) in red blood cell count, hematocrite value, and hemoglobin concentration in infected group. The mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), white blood cell, lymphocyte, eosinophile and monocyte in infected group were lower but neutrophil was higher than uninfected group. These differences were not statistically significant (P > 0.05). The results of this study showed that infected goats with A. ovis in compare with uninfected goats have microcytic anemia, leucopenia, lymphopenia, neutrophilia, eosinopenia and monocytopenia.
