Germination percentage of populus euphratica Oliv.originated from different provenances and comparing seedling production in greenhouse and vitro cultures.

Populus euphratica Oliv. distributed naturally in the vast regions of Iran. Since it is a deciduas species, the interspecies hybridization is possible. Therefore sexual reproduction may lead to higher genetic diversity as well as higher productive and adapted genotypes. For seedling production, two greenhouses and in vitro cultures were compared and germination percentages were measured. Seeds were sampled from seven habitats in Iran and then planted in greenhouse and in vitro cultures. Linear regression was used to modeling the relationship between length of stems and roots. Significant differences (p=0.05) were observed between the all provenances in greenhouse and in vitro cultures. In the in vitro culture in all seven habitats, survival percentage was more of %70. But In the Greenhouse cultures it was lower than %50. As the costs are higher in vitro culture, greenhouse culture of seedling is more logical. In the greenhouse culture, maximum survival percentage (%44/46) belongs to Gatvand region and this habitat is more tolerant than other ones.
