: ابتلا به معناي «گرفتار و دچار شدن» و «امتحان» و «اختبار» است. ابتلا در معناي گرفتار و دچارشدن، به صورت نعمات يا نقمات ظاهر مي‌شود و جز لاينفك نظام عالم است. پيشامدهايي كه در زندگي بشر اتفاق مي‌افتد دربردارنده معنايي ژرف است. اهميت ابتلا به اين است كه شان آدمي را تعالي مي‌بخشد و سبب تكامل روحي او در جهتي مي‌شود كه قابليت رسيدن به آن را دارد. نشيه دنيا دار نقصان است و قابليت اين را ندارد كه دار ثواب و عقاب باشد. دنيا فقط دارالتربيتي براي تربيت بشر، جهت وصول به غايتي برتر در عوالم برتر است. ابتلا در معناي «آزمون» و «اختبار» به معناي آگاهي و باخبر شدن نسبت به آفرينش انسان و جهان و نگاه معنانگرانه نسبت به تمام داشته‌ها و نداشته‌ها، خوشي‌ها و ناملايمات و ديگر پيشامدها است. به اين لحاظ بجا خواهد بود اگر همواره بر اين تاكيد شود كه ابتلايات عامل مهمي در جهت تكامل و ارتقاي معنوي و روحاني بشر هستند. نويسندگان اين مقاله تلاش نموده‌اند با محور قراردادن سخنان امام در باب ابتلا از آيات و روايات و همين‌طور سخنان ديگر بزرگان براي فهم بهتر سخنان امام استفاده نمايند.

The Arabic word ibtila has two meanings. In its first sense, it refers to affliction and infliction. Ibtila can be affliction of hardship or being blessed with blessings, which are the inseparable parts of the universal system. The happenings in man’s life have profound meanings. The significance of ibtila is that it sublimates man’s status, causing his spiritual sublimation in the direction that he is capable of accomplishing. The ecstasy of the world is shortcoming; the world is not capable of being a place for reward and punishment. It is only an educational home for raising man in order to attain a superior goal in the sublime world. Ibtila in its second sense means test and awareness. Awareness refers to becoming conscious of creation of man and the world as well as a semantic approach to all possessions and non-possessions, joys, hardships and other happenings. Hence afflictions and tests are always a means for perfection and spiritual sublimation. Attempts have been made in the present paper to rely on the Quranic verses, traditions and remarks of thinkers to explain Imam Khomeini’s viewpoints about affliction and test.
