در حال حاضر، درياي خزر به‎عنوان يكي از منابع مهم نفت‎خام و گازطبيعي در جهان مطرح بوده و نقش بسيار مهمي در تامين انرژي كشورهاي دنيا بر عهده دارد. به همين علت پنج كشور همسايه‎ي درياي خزر - آذربايجان، قزاقستان، روسيه و تركمنستان – در سال‎هاي اخير تلاش مضاعفي را براي بهره برداري از اين منابع به ‎عمل آورده اند. اين مقاله به ارايه‎ي يك مدل SWOT براي بهره‎برداري از انرژي نفت و گاز و هم‎چنين تحليل موانع آتي كشور ايران در افزايش بهره گيري از منابع اين منطقه‎ي استراتژيك پرداخته است.

Due to this potential four of the Caspian Sea neighbouring countrie, namely Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan, have started to increase their oil and gas production from this area. This paper develop a SWOT analysis to evaluate the future of Iran’s oil and gas industry in the Caspian sea. The article also analyzes the barriers Iran faces in its attempts to take full advantage of its potential in this strategic area.
