The Economic Relations of Britain with the East (A survey of British banking policies in Iranian and Indian bank branches)

مناسبات بريتانيا با شرق در حوزههاي مختلف سياسي، اقتصادي و فرهنگي بروز پيدا كر د و شالوده اين مناسبات بر محور حفظ منافع و حذف رقباي سياسي از صحنه قدرت قرار داشت و در همين راستا، بريتانيا اهداف كلان استراتژيك خود را در شرق دنبال كرد. يكي از نمودهاي استعمار اقتصادي بريتانيا، سياستهاي بانكداري آن در ساير كشورهاست. مقال ه حاضر به بررسي نظام بانكداري بريتانيا در ايران و هند اختصاص دارد. سياستهاي بانكي بريتانيا در اين دو كشور در ابعاد مختلف از جهت ساختار و نحوه عملكرد واجد ويژگيهاي خاصي است، كليه شعب خارجي بانكهاي بريتانيايي تحت نظارت وزارت خزانهداري اين كشو ر بودن د و بريتانيا اهداف مشتركي را در سرزمينهاي مختلف دنبال ميكرد، بنابراين نظام بانكداري مستعمراتي بريتانيا در هند و ايران به رغم تفاوتهاي اندك در زمينه نشر اسكناس و تعداد شعب از نظر اهداف كلان بريتانيا و گسترش نفوذ سياسي همسان بودند.

The British relations with the East has been manifested in such various areas as politics, economics, and culture, with its economic ones based on interestretaining, and the elimination of political rivals from power arena, making its overall strategic goals in the Eastin line with this policy. Banking policies in other countries are manifestations of the economic relations of Britain. The present article studies the British banking policy toward Iran and India. It includes, in various aspects, special structural and functional features in the countries of Iran and India. The entire foreign British bank branches have been under Treasury supervision, and Britain hassought the same aims in different lands; therefore, the colonial British banking system in Iran and India remained the same regarding Britain’s overall goals, and the political influence development despite few differences in the issue of banknotes and the number of bank branches.
