On Mystical Behavior in Persian Poetry ofChandarbahan Brahman

چَندربَهان برهمن در سال 1023 هـ ق در لاهور به‌دنيا آمد. همنشيني با داراشكوه او را در جهت تعالي اخلاقي و عرفان و تصوف سوق داد؛ تا جايي كه ديوان اشعارش سرشار از عبارت‌ها و اصطلاح‌هاي تصوف، و كتاب چهارچمن او نيز مملو از مطالب و اصطلاحات عرفاني و عشق به خداوند و بي‌توجهي به تعلقات دنيوي است. برهمن پس از درگذشت داراشكوه، از دهلي به بَنارَس رفت و در سال 1072هـ ق به ديار باقي شتافت. آثاري مثل چهارچمن، گلدسته، كارنامه، ديوان اشعار، منشآت، تحفهالوزرا ، ‌مجمع‌الوزرا و... از او به‌جا مانده است. برهمنْ شاعر، خطاط و نويسنده بود و با اهل تصوف و شاعران و خطاطان و نويسندگان معاصرش ملاقات داشت. انشاي موزون و مسجّع وي يادآور گلستان سعدي است. شعرش ساده است و با تشبيهات و استعارات زيبا، و مضامين عشق، محبت، توكل، رضا، و مسايل وحدت وجود- كه با لحني عارفانه بيان شده‌اند- همراه است. در اين مقاله، ضمن مرور زندگي‌نامه مختصرِ برهمن و كتاب چهارچمن، ديوان اشعار وي از نظر توجه وي به عرفان و تصوف و ويژگي‌هاي معرفتي آن بررسي خواهد شد.

Chandarbahan Brahman was born in 1023 A.H. in Lahore. The companionship of Darashokuh led him to moral elevation, Gnosticism and mysticism. His collection of poetry (divan) overflow with mystical expressions and his book Chah?rchaman is the expression of mystical concepts, love for God and the negligence of worldly attachments. Following the death of Darashokuh, Brahman left Delhi for Banaras and passed away in the year 1073 A.H.. The literary works left of him are such as Chah?rchaman, Goldasteh, K?rn?meh, a collection of his poems (divan), Monsh, Tohfat-al-Vozar?, Majma-al-Vozar? etc. Brahman was a poet, a calligraphist and a writer who enjoyed the company of his contemporary mystics, poets, calligraphists and writers. His rhythmical prose is a reminder of Sadi’s Golest?n. The language of his poems is simple and is furnished with beautiful similes and metaphors. Its content is the description of love, compassion, trust, volition and Unity of Being stated in a mystical tone. In this article, besides providing a brief summary of Brahman’s life and his companion Chaharchaman, the features of Gnosticism, mysticism and knowledge (about God) in Brahman’s collection of poetry are discussed.
