نقش دانشمندان شيعي، در توسعه دانش‌هاي مختلف، از جمله تاريخ‌نگاري، غيرقابل انكار است. وجود ميراث گرانبهاي علماي شيعه، در اين زمينه، مويد اين مدعاست. هرچند، بسياري از آنها در گذر زمان از ميان رفته و تنها مختصري از آنها در منابع تاريخي اهل سنت، بازتاب يافته است؛ اما بي‌ترديد، تلاش براي بازسازي آثار مفقوده شيعه، و تصحيح عالمانه متون برجاي مانده، موجب برجسته شدن نقش شيعيان در تمدن اسلامي خواهد شد. كتاب الجمل، يكي از متون تاريخي شيعي است كه به لحاظ روش‌مندي و استحكام متن، و نيز جايگاه نويسنده آن، از ارزش بسياري برخوردار است. اين كتاب ارزشمند، تاليف فقيه، متكلم و مورخ بزرگ شيعه، شيخ مفيد است. نظر به قدمت و يگانگي اين كتاب در باب جنگ جمل، به عنوان يكي از مهمترين رويدادهاي صدر اسلام، شايسته است، ارزش تاريخي آن، بيش از پيش مورد توجه قرار گيرد. اين امر، جز از راه شناسايي وجوه مختلف اين كتاب، بويژه بينش و روش شيخ مفيد وشناسايي منابع مورد استفاده وي و ارزشگذاري آنها، ميسر نخواهد شد. اين مقاله مي‌كوشد تا با تكيه بر روش‌شناسي شيخ مفيد، از عهده تحليل مواضع علمي وي در كتاب الجمل برآيد.

The role of Shi’a intellectuals in the development of different sciences particularly historiography cannot be denied. The valuable textual legacy remained by Shi’a intellectuals is proof of this assertion. However, a large bulk of such works has vanished by the passage of time and a fraction of it has been reflected on the works of Sunni historical sources. The attempt for reviving the missing Shi’a documents and verifying the remained ones can undoubtedly highlight the outstanding role played by Shi’a Muslims in the Islamic civilization. Al-Jamal is one of the valuable Shi’a historical texts regarding its methodology, text coherence, and the intellectual status of its author. This valuable book has been written by Sheikh Mofid, the esteemed Shi’a jurist, orator and historian. Due to the oldness and uniqueness of the book on the issue of Jamal battle—as one of the most important historical events of early years of Islam—the book deserves due attention and consideration. For that to happen , different dimensions of the book particularly Sheik Mofid’s perception and methodology as well as the resources used by him and their credibility need to be introduced and elaborated on. Focusing on Sheik Mofid’s methodology, the paper aims at analyzing his academic orientations in Aljamal.
