Schleiermacher`s View on Realization of Understanding

هرمنوتيك مدرن با تلاش‌هاي شلايرماخر براي گسترش حوزه هرمنوتيك آغاز شد. او سو فهم را امري طبيعي قلمداد كرد و با اذعان به تداول و اجتناب‌ناپذير بودن آن نتيجه گرفت كه فهم همواره معادل تفسير است. از نظر وي هر كنش فهم متضمن دو گونه تفسير، تفسير دستوري و تفسير فني يا روان‌شناختي است. تفسير دستوري به بررسي كاركردها و مولفه‌هاي زباني متن مي‌پردازد، در حالي‌كه در تفسير فني، متن به‌مثابه تجلي فرديت مولف و با توجه به رفتار خاص او با زبان، مورد مداقه قرار مي‌گيرد. شلايرماخر معتقد است در هر يك از اين دو حيطه، كنش فهم و تفسير طي يك فرآيند دوري موسوم به دور هرمنوتيكي و از طريق حركت ارجاعي مكرر انجام مي‌شود. جوانب اين حركت در تفسير دستوري همان عناصر مادي متن، يعني جز و كل هستند اما در تفسير فني، تفرد مولف نيز وارد چرخه فهم مي‌شود. با اين وجود، فهم تفرد مولف تنها هنگامي ميسر است كه مفسر از طريق حدس و بر اساس مقايسه با خود به دنياي ذهني او راه يابد.

The modern hermeneutics era began with Schleiermacherʹs attempts to expand the scope of hermeneutics. He declared misunderstanding natural. While admitting its being customary and inevitable, he concluded that understanding is always an act of interpretation. In his view, every act of understanding involves two modes of interpretation, i.e. grammatical interpretation and technical (also called psychological) interpretation. The former addresses the linguistic functions and features of text while the latter views the text as the realization of authorʹs individuality, and studies it according to his/her dealing with the language. In Schleiermacherʹs belief, in each mode of interpretation, understanding and interpretation take place in a circular process known as hermeneutic circle. The grammatical interpretation focuses on physical aspects of text, i.e. the whole text and its individual parts. On the contrary, technical interpretation addresses the authorʹs individuality. Understanding of authorʹs individuality is made possible only when the interpreter makes guesses and comparisons with himself in order to find a way to the authorʹs mental world.
