Religious Democracy Model and its Relation to the Islamic Awakening

الگوي مردم‌سالاري‌‌ ديني در نظريه حضرت امام (ره) و حضرت آيت‌‌الله خامنه‌‌اي مبتني‌بر تفكيك مفهوم دموكراسي و دين نيست، بلكه مردم‌سالاري‌‌ ديني در اين نظريه يك مفهوم است. اين مفهوم درون دين قرار دارد و چيزي جداي از دين نيست. قرارداشتن اين مفهوم درون دين و برآمدن آن از فرهنگ اسلامي موجب شده است ماهيت مردم‌‌سالاري ديني در اين نظريه با نظريه‌‌هاي ديگر، اعم از غربي و غيرغربي، متفاوت باشد. انديشمندان غربي تلاش كردند تا ليبرال‌دموكراسي را برترين الگوي حكومتي در جهان امروز معرفي كنند. اگر مردم‌سالاري‌‌ ديني به‌منزله الگويي از دموكراسي در برابر ديگر الگوها قرار داشت، توانايي به‌چالش‌كشيدن ليبرال‌دموكراسي را ازدست مي‌‌داد، زيرا در اين صورت الگويي از دموكراسي بود و نمي‌‌توانست برتري بر ديگر مدل‌‌ها داشته باشد. حال آن‌كه در نظريه حضرت امام (ره) و مقام معظم رهبري مردم‌سالاري‌‌ ديني مدلي از دموكراسي نيست و به همين علت توانسته است ليبرال‌دموكراسي را به چالش بكشد. به‌ چالش ‌كشيده‌شدن الگويي كه به ادعاي انديشمندان غربي بي‌بديل بود از علل مهم جريان بيداري اسلامي است.

In the theory of Imam Khomeini (reh) and Ayatollah Khamenei, religious democracy model is not based on the conceptual separation between democracy and religion. Rather, in this theory, religious democracy is a single and integrated concept which is located within religion and is not separate from it. Since this concept is located within religion and is a product of the Islamic culture, the nature of religious democracy in this theory is other than its nature in other western or non-western theories. The western thinkers tried to introduce liberal democracy as the superior ruling model in the contemporary world. If the religious democracy stood as a model of democracy against other models, it would not be able to challenge liberal democracy, since, in this case, it would be a model of democracy and, in the long run, it would not be able to be superior to other models. In the theory of Imam Khomeini (reh) and the Supreme Leader, however, religious democracy is not a model of democracy and for the same reason it has been able to challenge liberal democracy. Challenging a model which was, as claimed by the western thinkers, unrivalled is one of the important causes of the Islamic Awakening.
