An Introduction to Translation and Retranslation Theories of Scriptures Along with a Comparison of the Translation and Retranslation of the First Seven Verses of Surah al-Ma’idah

افزون بر يكصد و هفتاد ترجمه از قرآن كريم به زبان فرانسه در دست است. اين كتاب آسماني را نخستين بار در نيمه نخست سده هفدهم آندره دوريه از متن عربي به فرانسوي ترجمه كرد. اين متن چنان اعتباري داشت كه قريب يك قرن هيچكس به فكر باز ترجمه آن نيفتاد.اما مترجمان بسياري بويژه در قرن بيستم خود را در وادي ترجمه قرآن كريم آزمودند كه پروفسور محمد حميد الله زاده حيدرآباد هند يكي از آنان است. حميد الله علاوه بر ارايه ترجمه اي مستحكم افتخار دارد كه نخستين مسلماني است كه در زبان فرانسه دست به اين كار خطير زده است.در باب ترجمه و باز ترجمه امروزه نظريات گوناگوني ارايه شده كه ما در حد بضاعت ناچيز خود كوشيده ايم به برخي از آنها اشاره و با مقابله آياتي از سوره مباركه مايده نشان دهيم كه تا چه اندازه اين نظريه ها در عمل درست و قابل اعتنا هستند.

There are more than 170 translations of the Holy Quran in French language. This Heavenly book was, first, translated from Arabic into French by Andrea Doria in the first half of the seventeenth century. This translation was of such great authority that nobody thought of retranslating it for almost a century. Nevertheless, during the twentieth century, the Holy Quran was translated by a lot of translators among whom was Professor Mohammad Hamidullah born in Heidarabad, India. Besides making a strong translation of the Quran, Hamidullah is honored with being the first Muslim who has had such a great accomplishment in French language. Various translation and retranslation theories have been proposed. Some of them are briefly discussed in this article and following a comparison of some verses from Surah al-Ma’idah, it is shown to what extent these theories are actually true and reliable.
