بررسي دلايل مركزيت و سكون زمين در آثار هييت دوره اسلامي

A Survey of the Arguments for the Immobility and Centricity of the Earth in the Hayʾa Books

دلايل مركزيت و سكون زمين را، در ميان آثار نجومي دوره اسلامي، بايد در كتب هييت يافت. زيرا در اين آثار، به كيهان‌شناسي رياضي بر اساس هييتِ مجسم افلاك و موقعيت زمين در ميان آنها پرداخته شده است. اين دلايل كه در كتاب مجسطي بطلميوس ريشه دارند، بر مشاهدات و پيش‌فرض‌هايي بنا شده‌اند. در اين مقاله تك تك اين دلايل مطرح و شرح داده مي‌شوند و با روشي تحليلي سعي مي‌شود كه پيش‌فرض‌هاي اين دلايل روشن شوند. اين تحليل دو پيش‌فرض حركت‌شناختي را نشان مي‌دهد: 1) اگر متحرك از محرك جدا شود، ديگر به حركت خود ادامه نخواهد داد؛ و 2) سرعت سقوط اجسام متناسب با وزنشان است.

The arguments for the immobility and centricity of the Earth in the Islamic astronomical literature are mostly found in the Hay?a books. The reason is that these books treat of mathematical cosmology on the basis of solid spheres and the Earthʹs position with respect to them. These arguments, which are rooted in Ptolemyʹs Almagest, are based on observation and some pre-suppositions. In this article, we examine these arguments one by one and try to find their pre-supposition by way of their analysis. This analysis reaveals two major pre-suppositions: 1) for the motion to continue, the cause of the motion has to accompany the moving object; 2) the speed of a falling object is related to its wright.
