در عرصه عدالت كيفري تقارب تحليل هاي عدالت سنجشي و نظريه جامعه خطر باعث شده كه بسياري تصور كنند كه ما در حال تجربه تغيير جهاني به سوي الگوهاي خطرمحور عدالت كيفري هستيم كه آماري، سركوب كننده و خنثي كننده هستند. در اين مقاله استدلال مي شود كه هرجا كه ما بر چارچوب خطر در عدالت كيفري و پذيرش سياست هاي نيوليبرال در حوزه هاي قضايي داخلي تمركز مي كنيم، دلايل كمي وجود دارد كه عدالت سنجشي با موفقيت از ايالات متحده (به ساير كشورها) ارسال مي شود. با بررسي تحولات اخير در استراليا، اثبات شده كه شكل گيري سياست هاي محلي و شرايط اجتماعي به اين معني هستند كه مدل هاي عدالت كيفري خطرمحور و نيوليبرال هستند كه از مدل هاي آمريكايي متفاوت مي باشند ( در شكل و عملكرد)، كه ما نمي توانيم يك عموميت جهاني مفيدي در مورد ويژگي سياسي و يا ارزش هاي اصلاحي چنين رژيم هايي ايجاد كنيم و يا اينكه نمي توانيم چنين عموميتي را در مورد اتنقال ساده آنها در عرض حوزه هاي قضايي ايجاد كنيم.

This paper provides a commentary on the politics surroundingdifferent crime prevention models and methods. It argues that conflatingparticular models with particular methods can unnecessarily undermine theacceptance of certain approaches as being appropriate "crime prevention"interventions. The paper presents three abstract models of crime prevention—conservative, liberal and radical—and discusses how diverse methodscan be separated from these models, and need to be examined, understood,and used in broader political context. The aim of this paper is to explore different models of crime preventionas a means to highlight important theoretical and political issues that toooften remain submerged in "practical" discussions of the merits or otherwiseof particular strategies and techniques. It will be demonstrated that"crime prevention" in general is not a uniform or homogeneous area ofconceptual development and policy orientation. Rather, ingrained in thevery process of designing crime prevention strategies are certain coreassumptions and political choices. Acknowledgement of these is essentialif we are to make sense of existing and potential conflicts within the field,and evaluate the impact of particular approaches as adopted by criminaljustice authorities
