جامعه شناسان براين باورند كه هويّت امري اجتماعي-تاريخي است و در طول زمان نيروهاي متفاوتي در ساخت آن نقش دارند. در جوامع سنّتي مذهب، خانواده و قوميّت از مهم ترين عوامل موثر بر هويّت افراد محسوب مي شدند، امّا در جوامع مُدرن عواملي مانند سرمايه فرهنگي كه دستآورد خودِ افراد جامعه است، هويّت آن ها را بر مي سازد. بنابراين امروزه سرمايه فرهنگي تاثير زيادي بر شكل گيري هويّت هاي جمعي دارد. پژوهش حاضرتلاشي است در راستاي تبيين رابطه سرمايه فرهنگي دانشجويان باشكل گيري ابعاد هويّتِ جمعي تحتِ تاثير قوميت آن ها. براي نيل به اين هدف چارچوب نظري اين پژوهش، به كمك تلفيقي از نظريات كاستلز، گيدنز و تامپسون تدوين گرديد. جامعه آماري تحقيق شامل دانشجويان دانشگاه كردستان درسال تحصيلي 90–1389 مي باشدكه با استفاده ازفرمول كوكران و روش نمونه گيري طبقه اي نسبي 300 نفر از آن ها انتخاب گرديد. نتايج پژوهش گوياي آن است كه در ميان دانشجويان كُرد، سرمايه فرهنگي بيشترين ضريب همبستگي را با هويّت قومي دارد و در ميان دانشجويان غيرِ كُرد، بيشترين ضريب همبستگيِ سرمايه فرهنگي در رابطه با هويّت جهاني است.

Social scientists believe that identity is a social-historical issue and at different times different forces involved in making it. In traditional societies, for example, a series of factors such as religion, family and nationality are the most important that influence individual identity but in societies that have experienced modernity, factors make individualsʹ identity which are self-achievement such as cultural capital. So today, cultural capital has a great influence on the formation of collective identities. This research is an attempt to explain the relationship between studentsʹ cultural capital and the formation of their collective identity. In line with this goal, theoretical framework of the research was developed by the combination of the ideas of Castells, Giddens and Thompson. The population of the study consisted of the Kurdistan University students in the academic year 89-90, that using Cochran formula and relative sampling method 300 of whom were chosen. The results show that there is a meaningful relationship between social capital and dimensions of collective identity.
