جهاني‌شدن، به‌منزله محصول دگرگوني‌ها و پيشرفت شگفت‌انگيز بشر در عرصه علم و فناوري در قرون متاخر، تاكنون تاثيرات آشكار و پنهان بسياري بر همه عرصه‌هاي حيات انساني گذارده و روابط سياسي، اجتماعي، فرهنگي و اقتصادي ميان كشورها و ملت‌ها را تحت‌الشعاع خود قرار داده است. با درنظرگرفتن خاستگاه اين پديده جهاني، يعني دنياي غرب كه پيشينه چندان قابل‌دفاعي در عرصه سياست‌هاي بين‌المللي، به‌ويژه در يك‌صد سال اخير در مواجهه با كشورهاي پيراموني و درحال توسعه نداشته است و نيز كوشش‌هايي كه هم‌اكنون، در غالب اين كشورها درزمينه چيرگي بر ديگر قلمروهاي سياسي و فرهنگي جهان انجام مي‌پذيرد، لازم است با دقت و تاملي فوق‌العاده به مطالعه و ارزيابي جنبه‌هاي گوناگون اين پديده نوظهور جهاني به‌مثابه يك مسيله مهم و ناگزير بشري در عصر حاضر پرداخت. پديده‌اي كه باتوجه‌به ويژگي‌هاي منحصر به فردش هم فرصت‌هايي را براي بشر به ارمغان آورده و هم تهديدهايي را متوجه آن كرده است. قطعاً آگاهي از اين فرصت‌ها و تهديدهاي بالقوه در چگونگي روبه‌رو‌شدن با اين واقعيت دنياي پسامدرن بسيار تعيين‌كننده است. مقاله حاضر باتوجه‌به اين رويكرد، در پي تبيين ابعاد گوناگون جهاني‌شدن و نسبت آن با قلمروهاي فرهنگي و سياسي و اجتماعي جوامع مختلف، به‌ويژه «هويت ملي» آن‌هاست تا از اين رهگذر، بتواند راهكارهايي براي استفاده مطلوب از امكانات و ظرفيت‌هاي تازه به‌وجودآمده، درجهت تقويت هويت ملي و پيوند آن با جهان خارج ارايه كند.
