متون منظوم و منثور كهن و بويژه ترجمه‌ها و تفاسير قرآن، آثاري گرانمايه در پديداري حيات و اصالت اصليترين هويّت ملّي ما يعني زبان فارسي هستند و از رهگذر تحقيق و تفحّص در اين گنجينه‌هاي ارزشمند است كه باور ديرينگي و پيشينگي و غناي فرهنگي زبان فارسي عينيّت مييابد. از اين رهگذر، تفسير قرآن مجيد معروف به كمبريج، جايگاه ويژه‌اي در پژوهشهاي واژه‌شناسي متون كهن دارد. گرايش پُر شور و اشتياق مفسّر به كاربرد لغات ناياب و كهن و ذكر برابرنهاده‌هاي زيباي فارسي در برگردان آيات قرآني، همساني با اشعار سبك خراساني در كاربرد گونه زيبا و بايسته لغات اصيل فارسي در كنار بهره‌مندي از لغات خاصّ متون قرآني، كاربرد برخي برابرنهاده‌هاي قرآني در معاني تازه و متفاوت از فرهنگها، به كارگيري اندكِ واژه‌هاي دشوارياب و دشوارخوان، به دست دادن لغات و تركيبات زيبا و خوش‌تركيب بر ساخته مولّف و پيشينگي استفاده از پاره‌اي واژه‌ها و... از جمله ويژگيهاي قابل اعتناي اين كتاب است. اين مقاله كوشيده تا با بيان موضوعات مورد اشاره، ارزشهاي زباني و لغوي اين اثر سترگ را جهت تبيين سبك نگارشِ آن بازنمايد. به اين منظور، جنبه‌هاي گوناگون ويژگيهاي لغوي اين كتاب در نه بخش بيان و با تعدادي از متون قرون چهارم تا ششم، شامل كتب قرآني و پاره‌اي از كتب نثر و نظم و فرهنگ لغات مقايسه گرديده‌اند. نمايه‌اي از واژه هاي بررسي شده و داده‌هاي آماريِ حاصل از پژوهش و مقايسه‌ها، در قالب جداول و نمودار ارايه شده است.

Old verse and prose texts, especially Quran’s translations and interpretations, are considered as precious works in life’s consistency and nobility of the most fundamental of our national identity, that is Farsi language; hence through ongoing investigation and disquisition in these valuable treasuries the ancientness, primitiveness and enrichment of Farsi language is visualized. Through this trend, the interpretation of holy Quran, known as Cambridge, has possessed a niche in the studies of old texts lexicology. The lexical importance of this book is beyond a sheer interpretation of Quran and it is parallel to many masterpieces of Farsi literature in this regard. The vigorous intensive trend of the interpreter to use rare and old lexicons and his attempt to mention elegant Farsi equivalents in translation of Quran’s verses, the homogeneity with Khorasani’s style poems in using scrumptious and assured noble Farsi lexicons as well as taking advantage of specific vocabularies of Qurans’s texts, applying some of Quran’s equivalents in new meanings, different from other dictionaries, less use of hard-to-read and hard- to-find vocabularies, achieving elegant and pretty-formed lexicons and compounds out of the author’s composition, and background of using some words and … are among notable features of this book. This essay through assertion of mentioned subjects, has tried to open the lingual and lexical values of this great work. Therefore; lexical characteristics of this book are expressed in 9 sections and some texts of 4th to 6th centuries including Quranic books and some verse, prose, and dictionaries are compared. An index of studied words and statistical data resulted from researches and comparisons are also shown in the form of tables and diagrams.
