نزديك به سه‌دهه است كه جدال انديشه‌‌اي بر سر مفهوم‌سازي، درك و كاربست آموزش يا مطالعات ميان‌رشته‌اي، همچنان ادامه دارد. اين جدال، كه نتيجه كاستي‌‌هاي شناخت‌شناسي آموزش و مطالعات رشته‌‌اي در تبيين مسايل پيچيده هستي و جامعه بشري است، همچنان نيازمند ژرف‌كاوي‌‌هاي بسيار است. با ‌توجه به ديرينه كوتاهِ انديشه‌پردازي در قلمرو آموزش و مطالعات ميان‌رشته‌اي، روش‌شناسي مناسب در اين مطالعه، تحليل نظريه‌ها و انديشه‌‌هاي رايج در اين زمينه با رويكردي نقادانه است. يافته‌‌هاي اين كندوكاو نظري بر اين نكته تاكيد دارد كه درهم‌تنيدگيِ مفهومي، دگرانديشي و تفكر نقاد، از جمله بايسته‌هايي است كه به پيشبرد مطالعات و آموزش ميان‌رشته‌‌اي مي‌‌انجامد. افزون بر آن، مطالعات ميان‌رشته‌اي، بيش از آنكه به كوشش‌‌هاي فردي متكي باشد، نيازمند هم‌كنشي گروهي است. افزون بر آن، عواملي نظير منابع مالي، سوگيري حرفه‌‌اي و حمايت نهادي، از جمله نيروهاي زمينه‌‌اي است كه بر مطالعات ميان‌رشته‌‌اي اثر مي‌‌گذارد و عوامل گروهي، عوامل شناختي و حل مسيله نيز از جمله نيروهاي هدايت‌كننده آن است.

There is almost three decades where the polemic challenges had been increased about the conceptualization, comprehension and the ways of implication of interdisciplinary education and studies. These challenges have been taken root from epistemological and methodological Shortage of disciplinary knowledge which seems to be unable to explain and resolve complex issues of the real life. Regarding the short history of theorization interdisciplinarity, the suitable methodology for this study could be theoretical analysis of current thought by a critical approach. The research findings of this study is emphasizing on conceptual integration, alternative thinking and critical thinking as the core issues which seem compulsory for progressing interdisciplinarity. Additionally, interdisciplinary studies are based on team interaction more than individual efforts. Factors like funding, professional Orientation and Institutional support, Constitute the main contextual forces influencing interdisciplinarity. And also epistemological factors, team factors and problem scoping are the important factors in conducting interdisciplinary researches.
