Re-Thinking of the Concept of Dwell in Architecture

مفهوم عام سكونت يا بودن انسان در زمين و محيط متناسب با آن، پاسخ هاي معمارانه گوناگوني در انديشه سنّت و مدرن داشته است. با وجود اين تاكنون، شناخت چيستي سكونت و معناي خاص آن آرامش، همچنان از چالش هاي نظري در حوزه ارتباط انسان و محيط بوده است. در اين مقاله، از منظر حكمت اسلامي، سرشت سكونت نفس انسان در ارتباط با عالم حس و تعلق آن به عالم خيال، بازانديشي مي شود. اين بازانديشي يا طرح مقدماتي گفتماني درباب سكونت، در پي دو هدف است: اول، پرده برداري از سرشت آنچه سكونت و سكني گزيني خوانده مي شود. دوم، شناخت و بازيابي وادي از يادرفته خيال در معماري و زمينه هاي سكونت خيالي انسان در زمين است. براي اين منظور، مطالعه حاضر با رويكردي تحليلي و تبارشناسي واژگان مي كوشد نشان دهد كه نفس به اعتبار سرشت بينابيني يا خيالي ‌ـ به‌معني ساحتي ميان دو چيز جدا از هم كه داراي ويژگي هر دو طرف است‌ـ در عالمي از جنس خود، يعني عالم خيال، سكونت مي كند. در واقع، اين عالم به مانند نفس و خيال، عالمي دروني و اجتماعي از زوجين براي يادآوري ادواري سكونت نخستين آدمي در عالم ملكوت نفس است؛ اما اين محيط به رغم برخي وجوه اشتراك، با انديشه ساخت تمثيلي بهشت در زمين مناسبت ندارد. به عبارتي، هدف اصلي از ساختن اين محيط، بازنمايي عالم نفس براي مراقبت و نگهداري از چهارگانه زوجيّت، ذكر، خيال و سكونت انسان است؛ بنابراين از اين منظر، سكونت نفس انسان با تعادل و وحدتِ مفاهيم و پديدارهاي دوگانه متضاد و در عين‌ حال همسان در زيست جهان انسان ، طبيعت و معماري به دست خواهد آمد.

The general concept of ʹDwellʹ or the existence of human on earth accompanying a suitable environment has various architectural responses in the traditional and modern thought. However, the recognition of quiddity of dwell and its specific meaning ʹcalmnessʹ is still a theoretical challenge in human relation and environment. In this essay, nature and dwell of self with regard to the world of sense and its belonging to the imagination world will be rethought from Islamic wisdom perspective. This rethinking or preliminary discourse plan about dwelling follows two main purposes: First, discovering the nature of what is called dwelling and settlement. The second is the recognition and retrieval of forgotten world of imagination in architecture and the grounds of human imaginary dwelling on earth. By applying an analytical approach and morphophonemic, this research attempts to demonstrate that self with the interstitial or imaginary nature-a place between two separated things which has the characteristics of both sides-dwell in a world of self (imaginary world). In fact, this world like self and imagination is an internal and social world of couples for periodic reminders of the Adam and Eve primary dwelling in celestial world of self. Despite of some commonalities, this environment does not correspond with symbolic construction of heaven on earth. In other words, the main purpose of constructing this environment is the representation of world of self for care and protection of the quadripartite of couple, word, imagination and dwell of humanbeing. From this perspective, the dwell of self will be achieved with a balance and unity of concepts and opposed but similar dual phenomena in the human world, nature, and architecture.
