آموزش زبان‌هاي خارجي در پرتو چالش‌هاي تدريس فرهنگ

FLT in the Light of Culture Teaching Challenges

پژوهش حاضر مروري دارد بر اهميت تدريس فرهنگ، همزمان با تدريس زبان و چالش‌هايي كه در اين زمينه وجود دارد. مواردي كه در اين تحقيق به آنها پرداخته مي‌شود عبارت‌اند از: هدف از تدريس فرهنگ چيست؟ مولفه‌هاي تشكيل‌دهنده يك فرهنگ كدام است؟ چه جنبه‌هايي از فرهنگ بيگانه بايد آموزش داده شود و در اين ميان، فرهنگ خودي چه نقشي را ايفا مي‌كند؟ اين پژوهش همچنين به موضوع عوامل بازدارنده‌اي مي‌پردازد كه به واسطه آن مدرسان زبان از تدريس فرهنگ سرباز مي‌زنند. نتايج اين تحقيق نشان مي‌دهد كه روش ارتباط بين دستورالعمل‌هاي زباني و تدريس فرهنگ، كاملاً بستگي به هدف غايي تدريس يك زبان خارجي و تعبير ما از مولفه فرهنگ دارد. همچنين شواهد حاكي از آن است كه مدرسان زبان به دليل كمبود وقت، فقدان روش‌هاي كاربردي و عدم اطمينان از اين‌كه چه جنبه‌هايي از فرهنگ يك جامعه را بايد آموزش داد و انكار، اجتناب و خودبيني فرهنگي زبان‌آموزان و همچنين مناسب نبودن محتواي كتاب‌هاي درسي، از تدريس فرهنگ امتناع مي‌كنند.

The idea that teaching a foreign language has a cultural dimension isnʹt new. This study is a review of literature on the importance of the synchronized teaching of culture and language and the exising challenges in this area. This paper deals with questions like: what is the aim of teaching culture? What are the constituent components of culture? What aspects of culture should be taught and what is the role of familiar culture? In addition, it investigates the inhibiting factors that cause language teachers to refuse to teach culture. Results show that the relationship between language instruction and teaching culture depends on the ultimate goal of teaching a foreign language and our interpretation of the cultural component. The research also shows that language teachers due to lack of time, lack of practical techniques and uncertainty about the aspects of culture which must be taught, as well as denial, avoidance and self- perceptions of learners and also the absence of appropriate content of textbooks, refuse to teach culture.
