در هر كشور، پيشگيري از وقوع جرم، محور سياست جنايي مدبرانه محسوب مي‏شود. يكي از طرق وصول به امر پيشگيري، تاثير رسانه‏هاي مختلف گروهي مي‏‏باشد كه با اتخاد سياست‏هاي كارآمد تقنيني، قضايي و مشاركتي مي‏توان از آن به عنوان ابزاري براي پيشگيري از بزه كاري استفاده كرد. سياست جنايي تقنيني ايران در ارتباط با انواع مختلف رسانه داراي ضوابط و مقررات ويژه‏اي است. با تحليل محتواي مقررات ناظر به رسانه‏هاي مزبور مي‏توان دريافت نقش چنداني در پيشگيري از وقوع جرم از طريق اين رسانه‏ها پيش‏بيني نشده است. در سياست جنايي قضايي نيز همانند سياست جنايي تقنيني و مشاركتي، استفاده از رسانه در امر پيشگيري از وقوع جرم كه به عنوان يكي وظايف قوه قضايه در اصل 156 قانون اساسي مقرر شده است، جدي تلقي نشده است و برنامه ريزي خاصي در اين راستا مشهود نيست.
