  شناخت­اجتماعی به چگونگی درك كودكان از ديدگاه، احساس، انديشه­ها، نيت­ها و انگيزش­های خود و ديگران و اينكه درباره روابط اجتماعی چطور فكر مي­كنند، اشاره دارد. فرايند­های شناخت­اجتماعی، فرد را در پيش­بينی رفتار ديگران، كنترل­خود و در نتيجه تنظيم تعامل­اجتماعی توانا مي­سازد. ازسوي­ديگر، پژوهش­ها نشان داده است، كاركرد كودكان و نوجوانان نشانگان­داون در پاسخگويی به تكاليف نظريه­ذهن به ­ عنوان آخرين روند پژوهشی درباره تحول شناخت­­­اجتماعی، ضعيف­تر از همسالان عادی است، اين­ ­ درحالی است كه در سال­های اخير با گسترش تعريف كم­تواني­­ذهنی در زمينه­ی"كفايت­اجتماعی "و"مهارت­های بين­فردی"، هدف از آموزش اين كودكان و نوجوانان، آماده نمودن آن‌ها برای انجام فعاليت­های روزمره­ی زندگی ، پذيرش مسؤوليت­های فردی و اجتماعی و آموزش­حرفه­ای خاص متناسب با توانايی، استعداد و علاقه آن‌ها درنظر گرفته­شده است. با اين­حال موفقيت كودكان و نوجوانان نشانگان­داون، بدون دارا بودن توانايي­های شناخت­اجتماعی بعيد به نظر مي­رسد. اين مقاله تلاش دارد تا ضمن تبيين مفهوم شناخت­اجتماعی و بررسی كاركردهای آن، به مرور پژوهش­های صورت­گرفته در حوزه شناخت­اجتماعی كودكان و نوجوانان نشانگان­داون پرداخته و در نهايت برخی از مهم‌ترين عوامل موثر در رشد­ شناخت­اجتماعی اين گروه از كودكان و نوجوانان را شناسايی و معرفی نمايد.

  Social cognition refers to how children understand Opinions, feelings, thoughts and intentions themselves and others and how they think about social relations. Processes of social cognition, enables one to predict the behavior of others, self-control and therefore regulating social interaction. In other hand, studies indicated Children and adolescents with Down syndrome have lower performance in answer to the tasks of theory of mind as the latest research domain on the development of social cognition. However in recent years with expansion in mental retardation definition in "social competence" and "Interpersonal Skills" areas, the purpose of training these children and adolescents considered preparing to perform activities of daily living, acceptance of personal and social responsibility and training specific job appropriate with their ability, aptitude and interest. Yet success of children and adolescents with Down syndrome seems unlikely without social cognition abilities. The current study attempt While explain concept of social cognition and its functions, Review researches was conducted abut Children and adolescents with Down syndrome’s social cognition and finally Identify and introduce some of the more important Effective factors in development of social cognition in Children and adolescents with Down syndrome.
