سنّت و مدرنيته در رمان «همسايه‌ها»

Tradition and Modernity in “Neighbors” Novel

رابطه جامعه و ادبيات، يكي از موضوعاتي است كه در تحقيقات ادبي به آن پرداخته مي‌شود. رابطه سنّت و مدرنيته به عنوان يك مسيله اجتماعي، در آثار ادبي نيز بازتاب يافته است. نمايش عناصر اين دو (با تكيه بر نظريات «آنتوني گيدنز») در رمان «همسايه‌ها»، تبيين رابطه عناصر سنّت و مدرنيته و انعكاس نظر نويسندگان درباره اين دو، هدف اصلي اين پژوهش را شكل مي‌دهد. آنتوني گيدنز معتقد است كه سنّت‌ها در مدرن‌ترين جوامع نيز به حضور خود ادامه مي‌دهند. نتايج پژوهش، بيانگر اين نكته است كه شاخص‌هاي سنّتي فرهنگي و اجتماعي بيشتر از عناصر مدرن در اين زمينه‌ها در داستان ديده مي‌شود؛ به همين دليل هر چند عناصر اقتصادي و سياسي بيشتر مدرن هستند، در مجموع مغلوب سنّت‌ها مي‌شوند و موفّق نمي‌شوند خود را تثبيت كنند. محمود به بيشتر سنّت‌ها به‌ويژه سنن فرهنگي نگاهي منفي دارد؛ امّا از نقد عناصر مدرن نيز غافل نمي‌شود.

The relation of society and literature is one of the issues under constant research in literary studies. The relation of tradition and modernity as a social matter has been manifested in literary works too. The manifestations of these elements of these two (focusing on Anthony Giddens ideas) in “Neighbors” novel and expressing the relation of elements of tradition and modernity and reflection of other authors’ ideas about these two are main purposes of this article. Anthony Giddens believes that traditions are present even in the most modern societies. Research Results show that traditional indexes of culture and society are observed more than modern elements in these contexts in the story; due to this reason, although economical and political elements are mostly modern, they are dominated by tradition and fail to verify themselves. Mahmood has a negative view of most traditions especially cultural customs; however he does not ignore criticizing modern elements too.
