Identifying and Introducing the Motifs of Stucco and Brickwork Decorations in the Mihrab of Bersian Jame’ Mosque

مسجد جامع برسيان كه گنبدخانه و تك مناري آجري دارد، از بناهاي متعلق به دوره سلجوقي است. تزيينات اصلي اين مسجد، تلفيقي از هنر آجركاري و گچ بري دوره سلجوقي است كه در دوره صفوي نيز تزيينات و الحاقاتي بر آن افزوده شده است. مسجد برسيان در روستاي برسيان از توابع استان اصفهان قرار گرفته است. محراب آن، يكي از نمونه هاي شايان توجه محراب هاي دوره سلجوقي است. تزيينات موجود در اين محراب، تلفيقي از آجركاري و گچ بري است كه در نوع خود كم نظير است. درباره تاريخ بنيان مسجد و محراب آن نظرات مختلفي در منابع وجود دارد. نظر به اينكه اطلاعات موجود در رابطه با اين بنا به خصوص تزيينات آن محدود است، متن حاضر بر آن است با مطالعه و پژوهش ويژگي هاي بصري، انواع نقوش گچ بري و آجركاري به كار رفته در تزيينات محراب اين مسجد را معرفي و شناسايي نمايد. همچنين، با پاسخ گويي به پرسش هاي موجود در اين رابطه، گامي در جهت شناخت بيشتر تزيينات اين مسجد عصر سلجوقي بردارد. روش پژوهش به كارگرفته شده، توصيفي- تحليلي و موردكاوي است. با استفاده از مطالعات كتابخانه اي و ميداني انجام گرفته هم، محراب به بخش هاي مختلف تقسيم شده و با كدگذاري هر بخش، معرفي تزيينات آن و قرايت بخش هايي از كتيبه ها كه تاكنون خوانده نشده، صورت پذيرفته است. موضوعات تزيين در اين محراب دربردارنده مقرنس، هندسه، عناصر گياهي، انواع خط و طرح هاي انتزاعي است. موتيف هاي گچ بري نيز شامل نقوش هندسي، گياهي، مهري يا بندآجري و انواع خط و كتيبه و موتيف هاي اجراشده در آجركاري ها شامل نقوش هندسي، مقرنس، انواع خط و كتيبه و نقوش انتزاعي است.

Bersian Jame’ mosque which has a brick dome chamber and single minaret is a building belonging to Seljuqi period. The main decorations of this mosque are a mixture of brickwork and stucco of Seljuqi era to which a number of decorations and attachments have been added in Safavid time. It is located in Bersian village which is in the environs of Isfahan province. Its mihrab is an outstanding instance of Seljuqi’s mihrabs. The decorations of its mihrab are a mixture of brickwork and stucco which is rare in its type. There are different ideas about its construction date and mihrab in the sources. Since existent information about this building, especially its decorations, is limited this article aims to identify and introduce the visual features of various kinds of stucco and brickwork motifs used in the decorations of this mosque’s mihrab. Moreover, by answering the questions about this issue it takes a step in further knowledge about the decorations of this Seljuqi’s mosque. The method of this study is descriptive-analytic and case study. Using library and field studies, the mihrab is divided into different parts and by coding each part, the introducing of its decorations and reading of some parts of its unread inscriptions are done. The decorative themes in this mihrab include muqarnas, geometry, herbal elements, various kinds of calligraphy and abstract patterns. The stucco motifs include geometric, herbal, mehri motifs and different kinds of calligraphy and inscription, and the motifs of brickworks include geometric motifs, muqarnas, various kinds of calligraphy as well as inscription and abstract motifs.
