Introducing a New Class of Bidentate Ligands as Antidote Drugs

There are some commercial antidote drugs like Dimercaprol, Succimer, or Penicilamine asparmaceutical chelators. They are bidental ligands which could give strong complexes with heavymetals as poisons. This paper introduces 2-Phenylthioalcohols as theoretically new antidote drugsand describes the role of stereochemistry on their effect. The stability of mentioned ligands andtheir complexes with Zn 2+ are calculated by semi-empirical AMI method and compared togetherand to ordinary used antidote drugs. Also complexation of some of these antidotes have beenstudied hy Zn 2+
