مقدمه: از دير باز اط?ع‌رساني دقيق و سريع و ارائة آموزشهـاي اثـربخش در زمينـه مـسائل مرتبط با س?مت جسمي و رواني، وظيفة رسانه شمرده شده است. ولي ظاهراً رسانه‌ها بويژه رسانه‌هاي محلي از اين وظيفه خود غافل شده‌اند. پژوهش به بررسي نگرش مردم عادي و كارشناسان بهداشت در زمينه نقش و اهميت رسانه‌ها در حوزه سلامت و همچنين عملكرد آن‌ها در اين زمينه پرداخته است. روش بررسي: اين مطالعه توصيفي-مقطعي است. جامعه مورد پژوهش، كارشناسان بهداشت و مردم عادي شهر يزد بودند كه در دو نمونه 211 نفري (كارشناسان) و 246 نفري (مردم عادي) وارد مطالعه شدند. ابزار گردآوري اطلاعات، پرسشنامه محقق ساخته بوده است. پرسشنامه حاوي 18 سوال باز و بسته بود. جهت تجزيه و تحليل داده‌ها از نرم‌افزار آماري SPSS استفاده شد و از آمار توصيفي و آزمون‌هاي كاي‌اسكوير و يومن‌ويتني در سطح 05/0 استفاده شد. يافته‌ها: كليه شركت‌كنندگان با نقش رسانه‌هاي محلي در زمينه موضوعات مختلف با بهداشت موافق بودند و از اين حيث تفاوت معني‌داري بين اين دو گروه وجود نداشت. تنها در زمينه اصلاح تصورات ذهني نادرست افراد جامعه در زمينه بهداشت، كارشناسان نقش رسانه‌هاي محلي را نسبت به مردم عادي بيشتر ارزيابي كردند (038/0 = P). بين نگرش مردم عادي و كارشناسان در مورد عملكرد رسانه‌هاي محلي استان يزد در زمينه جلب مشاركت همگاني تفاوت معني‌داري وجود ندارد (355/0 = P). نتيجه‌گيري: كليه شركت‌كنندگان معتقد بودند كه رسانه‌ها مي‌توانند نقش مهمي در تحقق مشاركت همگاني در حوزه سلامت ايفا نمايند ولي هر دو گروه، عملكرد فعلي رسانه‌هاي محلي را ضعيف ارزيابي نمودند كه نشان مي‌دهد بايد در اين زمينه تدابيري انديشيده شود.
