Semantics of Scripture and the doctrine of “Reality and Tenuity”

آموزه حقيقت و رقيقت آموزه اي برهاني عرفاني است كه صدرا آن را با مطالعات ميان رشته اي و تعمق در برخي متون كليدي ديني به دست آورده و سپس، با كاربردي وسيع در تجزيه و تحليل هاي مختلف فلسفي، آن را در تفسير ساير متون ديني نيز استخدام كرده است تا با آن فهمي درست و به دور از تنزيه ص?رف و تشبيه محض در الهيات فلسفي و جهان بيني عقلاني ارايه دهد. بر اساس اين آموزه، حداقل دو طبقه كلي براي موجودات قابل تصوير است؛ به منزله « رقيقت » به منزله خزاين و ملكوت و « حقيقت » تنزل وجود از آن مراتب. اين آموزه متناظر با تشكيك در مراتب رقيقه و « متنزّل » را « حقيقت » ، در مظاهر رقايق مي داند و سلسله عريض و طويل هستي را داراي وحدت حقيقت مي بيند، و از كثرت تبايني موجودات به شدت فاصله مي گيرد و به توحيد شخصي وجود مي گرايد. بر اين اساس هستي از حقيقت اصيل خود به عالم اسماي الهي تجلي م يكند، و از آن پس سير نزولي آغاز و با گذر از هر عالمي تنزلي ديگر روي مي دهد، و يكي ديگر از رقايق بروز مي كند. برخي متون غامض ديني درباره موجودات، فقط با اين آموزه قابل تفسير مطلوب و به دور از تشبيه ص?رف يا تنزيه و تعطيل محض است كه در آ نها از عينيت اوليت و آخريت حق تعالي، عينيت ظهور و بطون واجب، معيت خداوند با مخلوقات بدون تجافي از مقام شامخ وجوب، تنزل موجودات از گنجينه غيب الهي، و تاثير اسماي الهي در كيان موجودات و فيض بخشي به هستي سخن به ميان آمده است.

The doctrine of “reality and tenuity” is a demonstrative-mystical one which has been grasped by Mull? Sadr? through an interdisciplinary approach and speculation over key passages of scripture and has been used then for exegesis of all scriptures. Using this doctrine, he has been able to present an authorized understanding of the issues in philosophical theology and rational cosmology without falling into either mere transcendence or sheer similarity. According to this doctrine, there are at least two major stages of beings: Reality as Sovereignty and Tenuity as Descent from the former stage. This doctrine, which is analogous to gradation in manifestations, considers the reality to be descended in the stages of tenuity. Thus, according to this doctrine, there is a unity of reality in all stages of existence and individual Oneness of Being. Hence, the pure existence manifests itself in the world of Divine Names and then descends from world to world. So, there are some passages of scripture which could not be interpreted without taking this doctrine to be granted. These passages are those which include some beliefs such as Firstness and Lastness of God, the unity of His outwardness and inwardness, coexistence of God and creatures while being necessary, descent of beings from the hidden Divine realm, and the influence of Divine Names on existence of beings and the emanation of existence.
