به توانايي يك سيستم در ارايه گزارش از وضعيت جاري يا سوابق محصولاتقابليت رديابي اطلاق مي شود. در سيستم هاي توليدي، قابليت رديابي به رهگيري يك محصول يا انباشته اي4 از آن در چرخه عمر و گردش اشاره دارد. قابليت رديابي در توليد يك موضوع عمومي و مستقل از نوع محصول و فرآيند توليد است.ضرورت شناسايي محصولات و دستيابي به اطلاعات آنها به‌منظور شناخت محصولات سالم و با كيفيت و مراجع عرضه كننده و تشخيصآنها از محصولات بي‌كيفيت و تقلبي باعث شده كه امروزه قابليت رديابي به‎عنوان يك الزام از سوي دولت‌ها و مشتريان اكثر محصولات پذيرفته شود. اين قابليت، ركن اساسي سيستم‌هاي كيفيت است. اين مقالهبه تشريح ضرورت قابليت رديابي اقلام در زنجيره تامين، مزايا و كاركردها، انواع و شيوه هاي رديابي محصولات، مدل هاي مختلف رهگيري و بالاخره داده هاي مورد نياز براي رهگيري مي پردازد.علاوه بر آن، يك مدل مفهومي جامع جهت توسعه و پياده‎ سازي سيستم‌هاي رديابي در سطح زنجيره تامين ارايه مي دهد كه فارغ از ابعاد زنجيره تامين، دامنه تعريف آن، تنوع محصولات و فرآيندهاي توليدي مربوط بتواند پشتيباني لازم را از طرح‌هاي فراخوان محصولات توليدي به‎عمل آورد. اين مدل امكان مديريت پيشگيرانه و موثر مواد و فرآيندهاي توليدي را فراهم مي آورد.همچنين بهينه‌سازي مديريت زنجيره تامين و راهكارهاي ارايه شده در اين زمينه را پشتيباني مي كند، در ضمن به تغذيه اطلاعاتي ساير سيستم‌هاي زنجيره تامين پرداخته و تعاملات بين چند زنجيره تامين را پوشش مي دهد. روش پژوهش به‎كار گرفته شده مبتنيبرتفكر بر مدل هاي رهگيري استاندارد بين‌المللي، نظرات مديران عملياتي و توسعه‌دهندگان سيستم‌هاي اطلاعاتي است و در پي ارايه تصويري كامل از يك سيستم رديابي در سطح زنجيره تامين به‎صورت مجتمع و يكپارچه مي باشد.

Traceability is an ability of system to provide status reports or records pertaining of the current situation in the past. In production systems, Traceability to track the product or lot of a product and access to records in the entire production process (or part of the process) of the raw material to finished product that purchased and consumed by customer will be applied. Traceability in production is a general issue and is independent of the type of product and production process. ‎ requirement to identify products and access to their information in order to identify health and high quality products and their suppliers and recognition of them from less quality and counterfeit products has led to todayʹs traceability be considered as a requirement by the government and customers of most products. This capability is essential part of quality systems and related information systems have a major role in feed of supply chain information systems. ‎ This paper describes the requirement of product traceability in supply chain, benefits and functions, types and ways to track of products, models and finally data requirement for track, provide a total comprehensive model for developing and implementing of tracking system in the supply chain that regardless of the supply chain aspects, defining its scope, diversity of products and production processes capable to support the recall plan, provide effectively and preventive manage of materials and production processes, support Optimization of Supply Chain Management and solutions offered in this area, support other information systems in supply chain interactions. Research ‎Method used to intercept based on thinking on the international standard tracking models, opinions of operational managers and information systems developers and provide a complete picture of the tracking system entities in the integrated supply chain.
