Nature, Possibility and Requirements of Comparative Philosophy

مقايسه ميان فيلسوفان و نظام‌‌هاي فلسفي از صدر تاريخ فلسفه تا روزگار ما همواره وجود داشته، چنانكه فارابي موسس فلسفه اسلامي در كتاب الجمع بين راي الحكيمين، به‌نوعي تطبيق ميان فلسفه‌‌هاي افلاطون و ارسطو پرداخته است. مع‌هذا اين پل ماسون اورسل در اوايل قرن بيستم با انتشار كتاب فلسفه تطبيقي (1931) بود كه با ديدگاهي تاريخ‌محور و با توجه به مركزيت انديشه غربي، بحثي منسجم و روش‌مند را در اين باب آغاز و به بررسي تطبيقي آرا و ديدگاه‌هاي فلسفي پرداخت. اين مقاله ضمن تامل در چيستي، امكان، ضرورت، شرايط و مقاصد فلسفه تطبيقي به زمينه فكري فرهنگي طرح فلسفه تطبيقي و وضعيت و آسيب‌شناسي آموزش و پ‍ژوهش آن در ايران معاصر پرداخته و در گامي ايجابي به معرفي و تحليل سه الگوي فلسفه تطبيقي در دوره معاصر ـ يعني رويكرد تطبيقي اتين ژيلسون، هانري كربن و توشيهيكو ايزوتسو با توجه به آثار تطبيقي اين محققان ـ كه نشانگر امكانات و محدوديت‌‌هاي فلسفه تطبيقي با توجه به سنت فلسفه اسلامي است، مي‌پردازد. تامل در باب موقعيت‌محوري «كانت» در تاريخ فلسفه غربي و اهميت توجه به آن در مطالعات تطبيقي فلسفه، بخش پاياني اين مقاله است.

Comparison between philosophers and philosophical systems has been there since the beginning of the his-tory of philosophy until our time, as Farabi in his book, Al-Jam’ Bayn Rai’ al-Hakimayn, somehow has com-paratively studied the viewpoints of Plato and Aristotle. Nevertheless, it was Paul- Masson Oursel, who in the early twentieth century, through a historical approach, focusing on Western thought, launched an integrated methodological discussion of this issue in his book, Comparative Philosophy (1931), and comparatively stud-ied philosophical viewpoints and idea. The present paper, while reflecting on the nature, possibility, condi-tions and objectives of comparative philosophy, is an attempt to study the intellectual and cultural back-grounds of the idea of comparative philosophy and condition and pathology of its teaching and research in contemporary Iran. Also in a positive step, attempts have been made to introduce and analyze three models of comparative philosophy in contemporary era – that is, the comparative approaches of Etienne Gilson, Henry Corbin and Toshihiko Izutsu in the light of their comparative works – which underline the possibilities and limitations of comparative philosophy with regard to the tradition of Islamic philosophy. Reflecting on the pivotal status of Kant in the history of Western philosophy and significance of paying attention to it in com-parative philosophical studies constitute the concluding part of this paper.
