چالشهاي ترجمه‌پذيري عناصر فرهنگي در رمان «اللّصّ والكلاب» نجيب محفوظ؛ مقايسه دو ترجمه با تكيه بر چارچوب نظري نيومارك

The Challenges of Translating Cultural Elements in the Novel “El-LisʹʹsWal-Kilab” Naguib Mahfouz: Comparison of Two Translations, with Emphasis on Newmark Theoretical Framework

ترجمه يكي از مهم‌ترين مسايل فرهنگي معاصر است؛ زيرا وظيفه مترجم تنها جايگزيني الفاظ نيست، بلكه به عنوان يك ميانجي، سعي در ايجاد نوعي هماهنگي بين فرهنگ ملّي و فرهنگ مبدايي دارد كه داراي عادات و رسوم خاصّ خود است. اين مساله كار مترجم را دشوار و ماموريّت او را با پيچيدگي همراه مي‌سازد. نيومارك، دانشمند و نظريّه‌پرداز آمريكايي در حوزه ترجمه، روش‌هايي را براي ترجمه عناصر فرهنگي پيشنهاد داده كه در محافل علمي مورد قبول واقع شده است. اين پژوهش با استفاده از روش توصيفي ـ تحليلي و با تكيه بر چارچوب نظري نيومارك سعي دارد به بررسي و نقد شيوه ترجمه مفاهيم فرهنگي موجود در رمان «اللّصّ والكلاب» نجيب محفوظ، توسّط دو مترجم ايراني بپردازد. با وجود تلاش‌هاي دو مترجم، نوعي پيچيدگي و كاستي در ترجمه عناصر فرهنگي ديده مي‌شود. نتايج نشان مي‌دهد كه در اين دو ترجمه، روش تلفيقي به عنوان يكي از روش‌هاي موفّق ترجمه عناصر فرهنگي، كمتر استفاده شده است.

Translation is one of the most important contemporary cultural issues. Thetranslatorʹs jobis not only to replacewords, butasamediator, to createsome sort of coordination betweenthe national cultureandthe source culture thathasits owncustoms. This makes difficult the work of translator and makes his mission even more complex. Newmark, the American scholar and theorist in the field of translation proposed a method for translating cultural elements thathave been accepted in scientific circles. This study used a descriptive-analytical method, and based on Newmarkʹs theoretical framework, it attempted to criticize and reviewthe translation of cultural concepts inthe novel "El-lisʹswal-kilab" by Naguib Mahfouz, which has been translated by two Iranian translators. Despitethe efforts made by the two translators, there can be seen complexities and short comings in the translation of cultural elements.The results show that in the translation, the integrative approach is less used as a method for the successful translation of cultural elements.
