The Evaluation of Performance Indicators in the Health Care Centers of Babol University of Medical Sciences by the Pabon Lasso Model (2011-2014)

سابقه و هدف: شاخص هاي عملكردي از مهم ترين ابزارهاي سنجش بهره وري خدمات بيمارستاني هستند. هدف از اين پژوهش ارزيابي كارايي شاخص هاي عملكردي مراكز آموزشي درماني تحت پوشش دانشگاه علوم پزشكي بابل با مدل پابن لاسو بوده است. مواد و روشها: اين مطالعه كاربردي به روش توصيفي با استفاده از شاخص هاي عملكردي پابن لاسو طي سال هاي 92-1389 در4 مركز آموزشي درماني دانشگاه علوم پزشكي بابل (شهيد بهشتي، آيت اله روحاني، شهيد يحيي نژاد و كودكان اميركلا) انجام گرديد. ابزار گرد آوري داده ها فرم فعاليت ماهيانه وزارت بهداشت بوده است كه داده هاي مربوط به شاخص هاي درصد اشغال تخت، ميزان چرخش تخت، فاصله چرخش تخت، متوسط اقامت بيمار از آن استخراج و با معيارهاي وزارت بهداشت مورد سنجش قرار گرفت. يافته‌ها: در سال 1389 بيشترين درصد اشغال تخت مربوط به مركز آموزشي درماني كودكان اميركلا (75/74 %) و كمترين مقدار اين شاخص مربوط به مركز آموزشي درماني آيت اله روحاني (69 %) بود و در سال 1392 بيشترين درصد اشغال تخت مربوط به مركز آموزشي درماني آيت اله روحاني (82 %) بوده كه در مقايسه هم زمان شاخص ها با استفاده از نمودار پابن لاسو، هر 4 مركز مورد مطالعه در سال 92-1389 در ناحيه سوم قرار داشتند. نتيجه گيري: شاخص هاي مورد مطالعه نسبت به استانداردهاي تعيين شده وزارت متبوع به استثناي شاخص متوسط اقامت بيماران در مجموع در وضعيت مطلوب قرار داشتند. لذا تلاش در جهت ارتقاي شاخص متوسط اقامت بيمار امري ضروري مي باشد.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Performance indicators are the essential tools for measuring the efficiency of hospital services. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of performance indicators by the Pabon Lasso Model in the teaching hospitals of Babol affiliated with Babol University of Medical Sciences. METHODS: This experimental study was conducted using a descriptive method and the performance indicators of the Pabon Lasso Model from 2011 to 2014 in four major medical centers and hospitals of Babol University of Medical Sciences (Beheshti, Ayatollah Rohani, Yahyanejad and Children’s Hospital of Amirkola). Data were extracted from the monthly database of the Ministry of Health consisting of the inpatient bed occupancy rate, bed turnover rate, bed turnover interval and the patients’ average length of stay. The collected data were evaluated according to the criteria of the Health Ministry. FINDINGS: In 2011, the Children’s Hospital of Amirkola and Ayatollah Rohani Hospital accounted for the highest (75.74%) and the lowest (69%) bed occupancy rate, respectively. In 2014, the highest rate of bed occupancy was observed in Ayatollah Rohani Hospital (82%). The comparison of the indices by the Pabon Lasso Model indicated that all the four surveyed centers were located in the third area of the diagram from 2011 to 2014. CONCLUSION: In general, the indicators surveyed in this study appeared to be desirable compared to the criteria of the Ministry of Health, with the exception of the patients’ average length of stay. Thus, further attempts are required as to reduce the average length of stay in the patients. KEY WORDS: Performance Indicators, Hospital, Pabon Lasso, Bed Occupancy Rate.
