امروزه بكارگيري بامهاي سبز در طراحي معماري و شهر مورد توجه ويژه اي قرار گرفته است؛ چنانچه استفاده از پوشش سبز در بام و نماي ساختمان در اكثر كشورهاي اروپايي و ايالات آمريكا رشد چشمگيري داشته كه دلايل عمده آن علاوه از مبحث زيبايي شناسي معمارانه، پاسخگويي به عواملي همچون عايق سازي طبيعي ساختمان (حرارتي، رطوبتي و صوتي)، استفاده از فضاي مرده بام در جهت خلق فضاي دلپذير و خلق سطوح چشم نواز در نما، تلفيق ساختار مصنوع با طبيعت، كمك به كاهش آلودگي‌هاي جوي و افزايش نسبت اكسيژن هوا و غيره مي باشد. از طرفي طراحي ساختمان با بام سبز منجر به افزايش پايداري و مديريت صحيح بارانهاي سيل آسا و آب باران مي گردد. اكثر كشورهاي توسعه يافته در اين راستا در اين راه قدم نهاده اند كه لازم است تا در ايران نيز اين موضوع مورد توجه فراگيرتري قرار گيرد. در اين مقاله با روش تحليل منطقي و روش اسنادي به بررسي و ارايه راهكارهاي توسعه بامهاي سبز در فضاهاي شهري خاصه در باغ- مدرسه ها پرداخته شده و در پايان راهكارهايي چند در اين رابطه مورد اشاره قرار گرفته است.
