The Relation between Internet Addiction and Loneliness among the Students of Islamic Azad University

پژوهش حاضر با هدف مطالعه بررسي رابطه بين آسيب نوپديد اعتياد اينترنتي و احساس تنهايي در دانشجويان انجام شده است. در اين پژوهش نمونه اي با حجم 150 دانشجو با روش نمونه گيري خوشه اي چند مرحله اي، از بين دانشجويان دانشگاه آزاد اسلامي واحد همدان انتخاب شدند. ابزار پژوهش را پرسشنامه اعتياد اينترنتي يانگ وپرسشنامه احساس تنهايي آشر تشكيل داده است. نتايج اين پژوهش نشان داد بين اعتياد اينترنتي و احساس تنهايي دانشجويان رابطه معنادار مثبت وجود دارد. علاوه بر اين اعتياد اينترنتي پسران بيشتر از دختران است اما در احساس تنهايي دختران و پسران تفاوت معناداري مشاهده نشد. همچنين اعتياد اينترنتي در رشته هاي تحصيلي مختلف متفاوت بود و تفاوت معناداري بين اعتياد اينترنتي رشته هاي مختلف مشاهده شد به صورتي كه اعتياد اينترنتي در رشته كامپيوتر بيشتر از ساير رشته ها و در رشته روان شناسي كمتر از ساير رشته ها بود.

Using the technology and Internet has become more prevalent among the youth and teenagers today. Excessive use of Internet can become an issue and turn into an addiction for the youth. Personality and psychological features and behavioral issues lead the teenagers to spend more time on the Internet. The present study aims to examine the relation between Internet addiction and loneliness among the university students. The sample for the present study consisted of 300 students. We selected the participants through cluster sampling. The participants were the students of Islamic Azad University, Hamedan Branch. We used Yungʹs Internet Addiction Questionnaire and Ashers Loneliness Scale. The results of the present study show that there is a positive significant relationship between Internet addiction and loneliness among the students (p < 0.005). Moreover, the addiction to Internet was higher among the boys compared to the girls. However, there was no significant difference between the girls and boys in terms of loneliness. Also, there was a difference between different fields of study in terms of Internet addiction, and there was a significant difference between different fields of study; Internet addiction among the students of Computer Sciences was higher than the rest of the fields. And among the students of psychology, it was lower than all other fields.
