موضوع مداخله پليس در امر پيشگيري از جرم در سال‌هاي اخير، آن‌هم به‌دليل نهادينه‌شدن رويكرد پيشگيري از جرم در نيروي انتظامي، جايگاه مهمي را كسب كرده است. با توجه به اين‌كه جرايم و تخلفات رانندگي سهم زيادي از كل جرايم را به‌خود اختصاص مي دهند و اثرات منفي وقوع آنها بازتاب خود را در جنبه هاي مختلف اقتصادي، سياسي، فرهنگي، اجتماعي منعكس مي‌كند. در چنين شرايطي بايستي اقدامات و سياست ها طوري تدوين شود كه از تخلفات رانندگي كه علت تصادفات هستند، قبل از وقوع، جلوگيري شود، به‌طوري‌كه تدابير مقنن بر اتخاذ يك سياست جنايي مناسب و كارا واقع شود. در اين رابطه موضوع اصلي اين نوشتار بررسي سياست جنايي تقنيني در پيشگيري انتظامي از جرايم و تخلفات رانندگي است كه هدف از آن، بررسي جايگاه پليس در پيشگيري انتظامي از جرايم و تخلفات رانندگي مي‌باشد. در اين تحقيق با روش و توصيفي- اسنادي اطلاعات مرتبط با موضوع تحقيق مورد تجزيه و تحليل قرار گرفته است. نتايج اين مطالعه نشان داد كه پيشگيري انتظامي نوع خاصي از پيشگيري نبوده و بلكه ناظر بر كليه اقدامات پليس در راستاي پيشگيري از بزه‌كاري اعم از اقدام در راستاي پيشگيري كيفري و پيشگيري غيركيفري است و پليس نقش مهمي در مولفه‌هاي سرعت و قطعيت در بخش پيشگيري كيفري و پيشگيري اجتماعي و وضعي را دارد.
