شخصيت يكي از عناصر مهم داستاني است و شخصيت‌پردازي از هنرهاي اصلي رمان‌نويسان بزرگ است. شخصيت‌ها بار اصلي داستان را بر دوش مي‌كشند و با كنش‌ها و گفت‌وگو‌هايشان روايت داستاني را به پيش مي‌برند. رمان يك عاشقانه آرام، آخرين اثر داستاني نادر ابراهيمي، رماني برجسته و نشانگر توانايي او در شخصيت‌پردازي است. ابراهيمي در اين اثر در چهره قهرمانان اصلي، زندگي و شخصيت خود و همسرش را بازآفريني مي‌كند و با خلق روش‌هاي تازه‌اي در نحوه روايت و شخصيت‌پردازي و گفت‌وگوهاي شخصيت‌ها، اثري ماندگار و بديع مي‌آفريند. او اوضاع سياسي و اجتماعي عصر خويش را به شكل نمادين و با زباني هنري در قالب رمان روايت مي‌كند و واقعيت تاريخي را با تخيل قوي خويش به واقعيت داستاني تبديل مي‌كند. قهرمان رمان، انسان مسيله‌داري است كه در چالش سنت و مدرنيته گرفتار است. شخصيت قهرمانان بيشتر در ميان گفت‌وگوها و مجادله‌هاي آنان بروز مي‌يابد و رمان بيشتر گزارشگر انديشه‌هاي آنان است تا رفتارهايشان. اين انديشه‌هاي آرماني با بيان زيبايي طرح مي‌شود.

The main plot of the stories is limited to the characters and they are telling the story or its plot by their conversations and actions. Yek Asheghane Aram as the last work of Nader Ibrahimi is an outstanding novel and indicates his ability in characterization. Ibrahimi, in this work, recreates his life and his own as well as his wife characters like the main characters of the story, and creates an exquisite and perdurable work by developing the new ways of characterization, narration and the characters’ dialogues. He symbolically narrates the political and social conditions of his time with an artistic language in the form of a novel and turns this historical reality into fictional one with his powerful imagination. The hero of this novel is a troubled man who caught between tradition and modernity. The personality of the characters becomes manifested in their dialogues and discussions; and the novel reports their thoughts rather than their behaviors. These idealistic thoughts are expressed with an excellent diction.
