Oncogenic Osteomalacia Associated with Schwannoma:A Case Report

Osteomalacia is the leading cause of morbidity due to defects in bone mineralization. the most common case is poor exposure to sunlight and Vitamin D deficiency. Among rare cases this condition is oncogenic rickets (tumor Induced osteomalacia). Oncogenic rickets is seen secondary to mesenchymal tumors. On the other hand oncogenic rikets in the context of neurogenic tumors is rare. Here we present a extremely rare case of oncogenic rickets secondary to schwnnoma which was misdiagnosed as seronegative spondyloarthropathy and/or rickets, for about 8 years. Our diagnostic clue was the fine changes in lumbar Radiography. She was asymptomatic 5 months after complete resection of the tumor and medical treatment.
