آينده‌پژوهي مشتمل بر مجموعه تلاش‌هايي است كه با استفاده از تجزيه و تحليل منابع، الگوها و عوامل تغيير يا ثبات، به تجسم آينده‌هاي بالقوه و برنامه‌ريزي براي آنها مي‌پردازد. آينده‌پژوهي منعكس مي‌كند كه چگونه از دل تغييراتِ (يا تغيير نكردن) «امروز»، واقعيتِ «فردا» تولد مي‌يابد. در اغلب كشورها افق برنامه‌ريزي چه در سطح ارگان‌ها و دولت‌ها معمولاً كوتاه‌مدت و حداكثر پنج ساله است. اما با توجه به شرايط موجود و اينكه سرعت تغييرات در جهان امروزي بسيار زياد است، نگرش و تامل در آينده‌هاي دورتر از قبيل: بيست، پنجاه و حتي صد سال آينده، امري مهم و ضروري به‌نظر مي‌رسد. با امعان نظر به اين مسيله، بايستي اذعان نمود «تفكر درباره آينده»، در سازمان‌هاي اطلاعاتي امري مهم و غيرقابل انكار است. سازمان‌هاي اطلاعاتي موفق، از طريق شگردها و روش‌هاي علمي و ايجاد سياست‌هاي معطوف به آينده و ترسيم تصويرهاي بزرگ آينده، رفتار امروز خود را تقرير مي‌كنند. اين قبيل سازمان‌ها مي‌توانند با اقدامات هدفمند خود، آينده را طراحي كرده و به آن شكل منسجم ببخشند. واكنش بدون تفكر به آينده امكان‌پذير است، اما كنش امكان‌پذير نيست؛ چرا كه عمل نياز به پيش‌بيني دارد. بدين ترتيب، بديهي است كه تصويرهاي‌ آينده (آرمان‌ها، اهداف، مقاصد، اميدها، نگراني‌ها و آرزوها) پيشران‌هاي اقدامات فعلي در سازمان‌هاي اطلاعاتي موفق و آينده‌پژوه مي‌باشد. نظر به اين موارد، در اين پژوهش ابتدا با مفهوم، مزيت و اهداف آينده‌پژوهي آشنا خواهيم شد. سپس به ويژگي‌هاي چشم‌انداز‌ آينده‌پژوهان در سازمان‌هاي اطلاعاتي، شرايط آينده‌پژوهان، رويكردها و متدولوژي‌هاي مورد استفاده در آينده‌پژوهي اشاره و در نهايت نسبت به تدوين الگوي پيشنهادي خواهيم پرداخت.

Future studies reflects owreality of "tomorrow "is born from heart of changes (or not) of "Today" .In most countries, the planning horizon in the level of organizations and governments is usually short-term and a maximum of five years. But considering the current situation, and that the pace of change in todayʹs world is very high, contemplation and attitude in farther future, such as future twenty, fifty or evena hundred years, seems to be necessary. Noting this facts hould be acknowledged, "Thinking about the future," in the intelligence agencies is important and undeniable. Successful intelligence agencies through scientific methods and techniques and to establish future policies and drawing future large images, present their today conduct. These kinds of organizations can design future and give it cohesive, with own target edema sures. Reacts without thinking about the future is possible, but the action is not possible because the surgery is needed to predict. Thus, it is evident hat the images of the future (goals, objectives, intentions, hopes, fears and dreams) propellants of current efforts in intelligence agencies are successful and Future studies. Considering the secircumstances, in this study, firstly we will know the concept, advantages and targets of Future studies. Then pointing to Land scape character of the Future Studies, Futurists conditions, approaches and methodologies used in future studies and finally we will engage to wards developing formulation of the proposed model.
