A narrative study of the novel “Beggar” (AL Shahaz) by Naguib Mahfouz

مقاله پيش‌رو خوانشي است روايت‌شناختي از رمان الشحاذ (گدا) اثرِ نجيب محفوظ. در اين مقاله، اصلي‌ترين مؤلفه‌ها و عناصر روايت‌شناختي اين رمان از قبيل: زاويه ‌ديد، كانوني‌سازي، نحوه ارائه گفتار و افكار، عنوان، توصيف، تشبيه، زمان (زمان روايت و آغاز رمان) و مكان در بوته تحليل روايت‌شناختي قرار گرفته است. اصلي‌ترين نتيجه حاصل از اين مقاله اين است كه رمان گدا با برخورداري از روايتي نسبتاً پيچيده و چندآوا در كنار به‌كارگيري فن‌هاي نوين روايت‌شناختي (در زمان نگارش رمان) نظير روش آيينه‌وار و يا شعروارگي روايت، كامل‌ترين نمونه از رمان‌هاي مرحله سوم حيات ادبي نجيب محفوظ است كه از آن به‌عنوان مرحله رئاليسم فلسفي يا نيمه‌روان‌شناختي ياد مي‌شود.

This Essay is a narrative study of the novel “Beggar” (AL Shahaz) by Naguib Mahfouz (the renowned Egyptian writer). A noticeable part of this research has been allocated to the narrative style of the novel in which discussions such as point of view, focalization, speechexpression method and thoughts have been examined. In this article, in addition to narration, discussions like title, opening, description, simile, semiotics of characters’ names and place too have been analyzed from semiotic perspective. The primary outcome achieved from this composition is that the novel Beggar, having a semicomplicated plus polyphonic narration, along with using techniques such as mise en abyme or poetics of narration, is the is archetype of Naguib Mahfouz’s thirdphase literary course which is known as the philosophic realism or semipsychological stage.
