Prevalence of Athero sclerosis risk factors in hypertensive smokers, non-smokers and passive smokers

High prevalence of hypertension and arteriosclerosis are the main causes of decreasing the age mortality and morbidity due to cardiovascular disease in Asian developing countries and west Asian. Countries as compared with developed countries studies have showed that cigarette smoking has a high prevalence in Asian countries. We evaluated the effects of cigarette smoking on CVD and arteriosclerosis risk factors in patients with hypertension. In this the back ward chart study on 611 men from central regions of Iran (Isfahan -- Arak, Najaf-Abad) in random cloistering sampling method, from Isfahan Healthy Heart program. All subjects were evaluated in CVD history demographic, smoking states, physical examination, hypertension history, Heart rate, respiratory rate, weight, light, LDL, HDL, GL-T, TG, FBS and 2hhp. Date is analyzed in SPSS. 10 Software with chi-square ANOVA test. There was 2600 hypertension of 3511 normotensive men in this population under_study. The adds ration (OR) of HTN was 2.5 between urban and rural with adding cigarette smoking increase to 3.5. That is significant. The prevalence of risk factors and CVD according to indicative of this study in hypertensives were more than normotesnives significantly and in n on smoker were than smokers or those exposed to cigarette smoke. We consulate that prevalence of arteriosclerosis risk factors are more than in smoker CVD to non-smoker CVD.
