A Postcolonial Reading of the Novel of ‘‘The Island of Wandering’’

مطالعات پسااستعماري يكي از شاخه‌هاي مهمّ نقد ادبي است كه در پيوند با زمينه‌هاي سياسي، فرهنگي و اجتماعي آثار ادبي قرار دارد. اين رويكرد انتقادي آن دسته از آثار ادبيّات را كه به روايت از كشورهاي استعمارگر، جوامع تحت سيطره و مسائل مختلف آنها چه در تقابل با يكديگر و چه به صورت مجزّا پرداخته‌اند، در بر مي‌گيرد و هدف عمدۀ آن، ارائۀ رهيافتي واسازانه در چگونگي بازنمايي خود و ديگري يا مركز و حاشيه در تحليل و بررسي است. اين مقاله با ارزيابي مفاهيم بنيادين پسااستعماري مانند ديگري‌سازي، جنسيّت، زبان، استعمارزدايي و... در رمان جزيرۀ سرگرداني قرائتي جديد از اين اثر ارائه مي‌دهد. همچنين، زمينه‌هاي مركززُدايي از تفكّر غربي و ايجاد خودآگاهي را در برخورد با ديدگاه تك‌سونگرانۀ غرب كه در آثار داستاني فارسي انعكاس يافته است، تحليل مي‌كند. در اين راستا، بنمايه‌هاي بازتاب يافته در رمان در دو دستۀ عمدۀ 1ـ از خود بيگانگي شامل بي‌قيدي، آشفتگي و مرگ‌انديشي. 2ـ خودباوري توأم با پيوند و تعلّق به نشانه‌ها و باورهاي هويّت ملّي، شناسايي و معرّفي ‌مي‌شوند تا نگرش نويسنده به عنوان داستان‌نويس موفّق معاصر نسبت به جهان غرب، نوع واكنش به آن در شخصيّت‌پردازي‌ و روايت اثر مشخّص گردد. اين تحقيق نشان مي‌دهد كه دانشور در مقام ارائۀ راهكار هم برآمده است و سطح فرهنگي و فكري اقشار مختلف و تأثير ميزان آگاهي افراد را در نوع واكنش نسبت به غرب بسيار پُراهمّيّت دانسته است

Postcolonial analysis, as one of the important branches of literary criticism, is concerned with the political, social, and cultural aspects of literary works. This critical approach is used to analyze those literary works narrated from colonial, dominated communities and their different issues whether comparatively or separately. The main goal of this critical approach is to provide a deconstructive approach for representing self and other or center and margin in analysis. This paper aimed at reviewing the basic tenets of postcolonialism such as the other making, gender, language, decolonization, etc, and providing a postcolonial reading of Simin Daneshvar’s novel of ‘The Island of Wandering.’ More specifically, the study is an analysis of issues like decentralizing and raising awareness against the singlesided western viewpoints which are highly reflected in Persian literary works. In so doing, the reflected themes of the novel are presented into the two main categories of 1) alienation which includes promiscuity, chaos and death thinking and, 2) Attachment to signs and beliefs of national identity. These two major themes are used to analyze the author’s views about and her reaction to the western culture. The results of the study showed that the author not only analyze prevalent issues such as identity, culture, and alienation, but also presents the cultural and intellectual levels of different social classes and their degrees of awareness as determinant factors affecting the general reaction to the western culture.
