بررسي تطبيقي عناصر گوتيك در گودال و آونگ ادگار آلن پو و گجسته دژ صادق هدايت

A Comparative Study of Gothic Elements in Godal and Avang (The Pit and the Pendulum) by Edgar Allan Poe and Gojasteh Dej by Sadeq Hedayat

اين مقاله به نقد و بررسي تطبيقي دو داستان كوتاه از دو تن از نويسندگان شهير دنيا، ادگار آلن پو (1849-1809) و صادق هدايت (5103-1903)، با نگاهي به نوع ادبي داستان كوتاه، ژانر گوتيك و عناصر آن مي‌پردازد. نگارندگان اين مقاله با تكيه بر وجوه اشتراك و افتراق كوشيده‌اند به تحليل و مقايسه داستان كوتاه گودال و آونگ و گجسته دژ (1311) بپردازند. اولي داستان كوتاهي است از ادگار آلن پو، نويسنده آمريكايي، كه نخستين بار در سال ???? چاپ شده است و داستان مردي را روايت مي‌كند كه از سوي دادگاه تفتيش عقايد اسپانيا محكوم به مرگ شده و او كه خود راوي داستان نيز مي‌باشد به بيان لحظه به لحظه شكنجه‌هاي روحي و جسمي‌اي مي‌پردازد كه در سياه چالي تاريك بر او تحميل مي‌شود تا او را به كام مرگ بكشاند. دومي داستان گجسته دژ به قلم صادق هدايت و در مجموعه داستان سه قطره خون قرار گرفته است. اهميت موضوع در اين است كه گويا تاكنون كار مستقل و قابل توجهي در زمينه مقايسه و تطبيق عناصر گوتيك درآثار هدايت و پو انجام نگرفته است. بررسي عناصر گوتيك بر اساس نظر رابرت هريس نشان مي‌دهد جلوه ژانر گوتيك در گجسته دژ هدايت نسبت به پو پررنگ‌تر مي‌باشد.

This study aimed at compares and investigates two short stories by the great writers, Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) and Sadeq Hedayat (1903-1951), regarding the literary genre of Gothic style and its elements. The writers of this article, based on the common points of these stories, tried to analyze and comapre the story of Poe called Godal and Avang (1842), in a comparison with Hedayat called Gojasteh Dej (1932). The former is a short story from Poe, an American writer, which was published in 1842 and it is about a man who has been condemned to death by the Spanish inquisition. In this story, this man as the narrator of the story expresses the moments of physical and psychological tortures which have been imposed on him in a dark prison in order to bring him to death. The latter one is about Gojasteh Dej by Hedayat and it was considered in the story collection of Three Droplets of Blood. The significance of the study is that, so far, no major comparative research has been done on comparing and studying the Gothic elements in the literary works of Poe and Hedayat. Studying the Gothic elements based on Robert Harris shows that Gothic aspects in the work of Hedayat are more vivid and stronger than works of Poe.
