Alfalfa is one of the most important forage crops in Iran, which is planted in dryland and irrigated systems. One of the main, factors on its production decrease is soil and water salinity. Selection for tolerant genotypes can lead to increased production and planting area under saline conditions. 45 alfalfa landraces and introduced lines were evaluated for salinity tolerance. Perlyte filled pots were arranged in RBCD based on factorial design in 3 replicates. Plants were irrigated with Hogland solution for 40 days. Salinity treatments of 0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 mM NaCl/ lit were added to Hogland solution for the next 60 days. Every 15 days, shoot dry weight (SDW), leaf area (LA), and plant height (H) were measured. Salinity degreased leaf area, shoot and root dry weight, and plant height but increased root/shoot rate. Highest R^2 in saime conditions between SDW and Stem DW, LDW and LA was +0.98, +0.85 and +0.49, respectively. Cluster analysis showed that Golestan (20313) and F.A.O (2566) lines were the most tolerant and susceptible lines to salinity, respectively. Altar Hamedani and Baluchestan lines were . the semi sucseptible and semi tolerant, respectively.
